Grape Varieties: 100 % Montepulciano
Block: Monte, Single Vineyard, Estate Grown.
Wine Making Notes:
Picking Season: 12th March 2019 from the “Small Monte Block” stony soils. Montepulciano is always the last to be harvested as it is a late developer.
Cellaring: quite easily for up to 8 years or so from release
Alcohol: 14.0%
Sugar Residual: 0.35 g/l
T.A. (Acidity): 6.98 g/l
Tasting Note:
Montepulciano originates from central Italy and it is very much a “modern Mediterranean” red style produced on our stony Western Ridge soils.
Settling into balance after three vintages, the “Full Monte” has arrived with the 2019 vintage.
Our vines have delivered fruit with deep crimson colour. Very much true to type but with an extra degree of depth due to increased vineyard maturity.
How do we describe it… fresh, bright, with medium to more full-bodied weight and a punch, crunchy tannins, berries & cherries… absolutely delicious!
Monte has the ability to retain acid with strong tannin, so it can cellar for 8-10 years.
Food Pairing: Great drinking all year round, especially with a platter of Italian cured meats, strong salty cheeses or a big bowl of true Italian tomato based Pasta.
